A course that focuses on the advanced concepts of music notation using computer software, focusing on the Finale application from Coda Music Technology. No prerequisite, open to all students.
This course is designed to address issues concerning the notation and layout of musical scores. Using computer technology, we will focus on Finale and Sibelius notation programs for both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Using professional published scores as a template, we will look at issues in modern notation and orchestration.

2/22 - Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art: No class, but you must go to at least 2 events throughout the week. See the schedule at: http://spark.cla.umn.edu. A short paper, one page or so, will be due the following week on your reactions to the concerts and how you think it does (or does not) relate to topics covered in the class.
